Marlow Ropes are one of the world’s leading manufacturers of specialist fibre ropes. Our rope making roots in the local community go back over 200 years and we are proud to still be manufacturing on the same site as our forebears did.

Our factory in Hailsham, East Sussex in the UK employs around 70 people in production, logistics, sales, marketing, technical, accounts and administration. We also have a sales and distribution office in Plymouth Massachusetts in the USA employing 6 people.  In addition, we are part of a larger family owned group, with UK other manufacturing and distribution sites in Malvern, Heywood and Telford.

UK Sales Executive – Leisure Marine (South East)

Marlow Ropes are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic self-starter wanting a sales role in the marine industry. The role is 100% ‘on the road’ visiting chandlers, rigging outfits and original equipment manufacturers. You will be focussed on selling our range of premium ropes to new and existing customers within our “Leisure Marine” sector, in which we are a global leader, known and respected around the world. 

 The successful candidate will be sales focused & proactive - willing and able to engage with customers in person or via telephone, developing strong and lasting relationships. They will be enthusiastic, amiable and interact well with customers and as part of a team. The role involves visiting existing and potential customers in key UK sailing locations across the South, Southwest and East of England, selling directly from a fully stocked van and order taking for delivery from the factory. 

This is a fantastic opportunity to meet customers in person and develop strong and lasting professional relationships. 

 Must have competencies. 
• An active sailor, windsurfer or kite surfer 
• Excellent communication and presentation skills 
• Excellent telephone manner 
• Enthusiastic, passionate, and proactive 
• Able to generate and build strong commercial relationships 
• Able to show high level of initiative and an ability to work independently
• Well organised with excellent administration and time planning skills 
• Attention to detail 
• Clean driving licence 
• Willing and able to stay away from home when visiting customers 
• Eager to learn and develop 
• Computer literate with experience in MS Office 

 Desirable, but non-essential.
• Previous experience in the leisure marine industry 
• Previous sales experience
